My mother was right

My mother was right
As I grew up my mom always told me you can’t convince someone they’re wrong by telling them you’re right. It took a long while to sink in, but eventually it did, and it’s made me a better designer and better in business.  »

Does Your Business Need A Brochure?

Does Your Business Need A Brochure?

Home page sliders are a design and content crutch

Home page sliders are a design and content crutch
I’ll admit it – we use home page sliders a lot. It’s a habit we’re trying to break ourselves of and our clients too. We even have sliders on our site now (**gulp**) which we hope to change in the near future. Why? Helvetica: Good or Bad?

Helvetica: Good or Bad?
In 1957 a font was introduced to the world. This san serif type face was created at the Swiss type foundry Haas and it would go on to become one of the most popular typefaces of all time. That font is Helvetica. In 2007 for its 50th anniversary Gary Hustwit released his documentary film simply named Helvetica. Since I have recently rewatched this film it has sparked an opinion on something the film touched on.  »

The Importance of Kerning Type

The Importance of Kerning Type
I have always thought that kerning sounded more like a sport from some far-off Scandinavian country. In reality, kerning is a very important part of a good designer's job, and it might be what separates a mediocre design from a great one. »
