Boom De Yada, Boom De Yada

I remember sometime last year when I saw the Discovery Channel’s commercial “The World is Just Awesome.” This weekend, I saw an updated version: It’s just as great as the original.

I would not say I’m an avid viewer of the Discovery Channel, but I do enjoy some of the programming. And I’ve completely fallen in love with the “Boom De Yada” commercials: they make me feel good, and they might just be the catchiest commercials I’ve ever seen. Plus, the new version includes Ben Bailey, the host of “Cash Cab.” I watch Cash Cab every chance I get, and secretly hope that I’ll be in New York someday, and get to go for a ride in the Cash Cab, where of course, I will win lots of money.

In the meantime, I will have to be content watching the show, and hopefully getting more opportunities to see Discovery’s new commercial, “Boom De Yada 2009.”

Edit: Previously, I had embedded a video of this commercial from YouTube, but apparently, it’s been removed. So, for those of you who haven’t seen it yet,

check out the commercial on the Discovery Channel Website.

Of course, we can’t forget the commercial that started it all…

And, after a little searching on YouTube, I found a live version of the song that includes some Discovery Channel favorites (although the MythBusters are mysteriously absent… they must have been off somewhere, blowing something up.) Anyway, here’s an extended “live” version of the song, featuring Mike Rowe from “Dirty Jobs.”
